Akela Camp is Back in Action at Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan’s Scout Reservation and is now open to Cub Scouts who are Wolf Scouts and up (grades 2-5) and Den Chiefs! Join us as we explore our overnight camp nestled in the Northwoods.
Akela Camp is held at Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Reservation in Pearson, Wisconsin. Cubs get to experience an immersive Scouting program, from swimming and boating at the waterfront to hiking, leatherworking, shooting, and sleeping in beautiful East Camp. Your Cub Scouts will have access to the full resources of a world-class Scouts BSA camp. Sign up today!
Attending as a Den is strongly encouraged but not required. For Webelos, attending as a Den is a great way to provide an exciting finish to their time together in Cub Scouts. Your Den Chief is invited to attend as well.

SLEEPING: Each campsite has pre-assembled platformed tents (2 cots in each tent)

PACKS CAMP TOGETHER: Since you are required to provide your Pack information when you register, we will automatically put your Pack’s Cub Scouts and Adult Partners in the same campsites, even if you register separately as families.
HERE ARE JUST SOME OF THE FUN ACTIVITIES:
- Swimming
- Stargazing
- Nature trails
- Boating
- Fishing
- Hiking
- Reaching their mark at three different shooting stations
- Starring in their own campfire skits or songs
- Camp-wide games
- Working on Scout skills
- Completing great crafts to remember their resident camp experience in style

ADULT SUPERVISION REQUIREMENTS
To ensure our Scouts are safe, we adhere strictly to Youth Protection requirements for Cub Scouts.
- Each group/campsite must have 2 Adults minimum.
- One additional adult is required for each 4 Youth that attends. You are welcome to bring more adults than required.
- Any unit with girls must have at least one female adult present to follow Youth Protection Guidelines.
- Families with more than 4 scouts attending must have at least 2 adults.

Gurnee Days Parade

This Sunday August 7, 2022 our pack will be meeting with the other Gurnee Cub Scout Packs to walk in the Gurnee Days Parade! We will be meeting between 11:15 - 11:30am in the staging area in the neighborhood around Old Grand Ave. and Blackburn Street. We are group #16 which meets at the corner of Grandview Ave. & Blackburn St. Entrance to the line-up entry & drop off is at Delany Road and Grandville (easiest access is from Route 41 to Delany). Please see the map attached for more details.
Scouts should wear their class A uniforms. Don't forget a water bottle and sunscreen. We will have flyers to hand out and the pack will be providing candy to pass (not throw) out to the spectators. Scouts will take turns carrying the pack flag and the Gurnee Scouts banner.

While You Wait:·
- Your line-up area is on the roadway and NOT the resident’s yards. Groups cannot use the yards to warm up, practice or play before the parade.

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) Training is a day of fun and learning which will help pack leaders plan and carry out a quality "entry-level" outdoor experience for the Cub Scouts and their families. Participants will better understand the laws of the BSA and camp programming while acquiring the skills and confidence to host a successful campout by increasing their knowledge of available resources and the use of national and local council standards as guidelines.

Quiver Fest

Join us for Quiver Fest, an indoor Archery extravaganza! Cub Scouts shoot in the morning and Scouts BSA will meet for an afternoon session on the shooting portion of the Archery Merit Badge.
Sponsored by Pack 83 and the Shooting Sports - Archery committee of Northeast Illinois Council.
- Cub Scouts will learn fun facts about archery and will complete the requirements for their rank!
- Scouts BSA will improve their skills to earn the Archery merit badge.
- EVERYONE has fun! Parents included!
COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS: Everyone must wear a mask when they arrive, during check-in, and when they leave. Participants may remove them while shooting.
LOCATION: Big Foot Archers, N960 Hillside Drive, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin 53147
ARRIVAL TIME: Please arrive 30 minutes before your session time to ensure that the event runs on time.
DEPARTURE TIME: Please leave the archery area and building within 10 minutes of your session's ending time.
PLEASE NOTE: Big Foot Archers is an INDOOR range, so we will be able to hold this event, no matter what the weather is like outside!
